Help us help Jack.
**UPDATE 6/5/09***
Jack was back at the vet's office for a weight check, neuter and x-ray on his leg. Jack gained 2 pounds and was the office's favorite dog. His neuter went great. His x-rays revealed another story. Jack suffered tremendous abuse before he came to us. It seems that both bones in his front leg were broken. The vet feels at this time the best thing to do is to wait and see how it heals. He really didn't want to put Jack thru more trauma at this point. Jack's nose however healed up nicely, and while a tiny bit crooked, you would never know anything happened to his nose.
The vet has not cleared Jack for adoption yet. We are really working on getting him to trust us and most importantly getting weight on him. The vet wants to re-examine the leg in 4 months to see how is it progressing. We will then know exactly what we will be doing for him. We will keep updating more information as we get it. We are hoping to have Jack healed and ready for a new home soon.
We want to thank everyone who has been donating to Jack's care. Your help and support means so much to us here at ADH and words alone cannot express how grateful we are. Thank you!!!!!
Jack came to us from a city animal control officer and as you can see, he came to us just in time. Jack has been starved, beaten and has suffered with a broken nose and broken leg.
We took Jack instantly to the vet, who is an orthopedic specialist to find out what we can do to help him. Right now we feel that Jack is about 8 or more pounds underweight and that getting some food and nutrition in to him is our first goal. We will be taking Jack back to the specialist the first week of June to re-evaulate his leg, nose and weight. We will then discuss our options in more detail on how we can help him.
Jack's treatment is going to be extensive as well as costly, but we will not give up on him. He is a sweet dog, who loves everyone. He gets the most excited when he sees children. He does however like to attach himself to one person, and will not leave that person's side, and we love having him with us.
If you like to sponsor Jack, or donate to his care, please email melissa@alldogsheaven.org to find out more. We will of course keep everyone updated on Jack's progress.
Thank you.
