Meet Maisy.

Maisy came to us from a kill shelter in southern Ohio.  She was dropped off with her babies.  Another rescue agreed to take Maisy and her puppies, but when the transporter got to the shelter they only wanted her babies.  They left Maisy in the transporter's car with no where to go.  We here at All Dogs Heaven knew that if she was to be taken back to the pound, her fate would have been death.  We agreed to take her in and show her not all people are mean.

At first Maisy did not want to come out of her travel crate.  She was scared and her babies were gone.  After being bribed with a hotdog, Maisy came out and showered me with kisses.  Her fear seemed to be gone and she knew she had a friend.

Maisy appears to be housebroken too.  Never having an accident in the house yet.  We are very excited about that.

Maisy will not be ready for some time as we want to make sure she is fully vaccinated, heartworm tested (we are hoping for a negative) and spayed.  All of this will be done before she goes to her new home.  We are however accepting applications on her as we know she is going to need a home of her own will she never be left again.

UPDATE:

Maisy has been vet checked and she seems to have a collapsed trachea.  While there is no surgery needed, she will have to be on medicine when she gets a coughing outbreak.  We found that walking her with a harness instead of a regular collar has really helped. She will always need to have her harness to walk.

Maisy is still terrified of people.  She will cower and even nip when new people come near.  She seems to trust only in her foster mom.  She is even terrified of other dogs.  We are hoping with time she will come around.  Maisy is not ready yet and we don't know if she will ever be available for adoption as she is still unpredictable.

We will keep you updated as we spend more time with Maisy and try to show her that people are not bad.  And that she never has to worry about living her past life and that her future will include love, warmth and comfort forever.
